The Descent gives you the cold chain. The stories give you the warmth. This page is the bridge: each cluster below is a set of primitives — the axioms — with two sentences of why it must be so and one line of what it feels like from inside a human life. Twelve clusters. One direction.
Something exists rather than nothing, and whatever exists is distinguishable, and distinguishability just is information. These three cost nothing to accept and everything to deny — denying them requires existing, being distinct from your denial, and communicating it.
Information needs a ground, and the ground cannot be an infinite chain of grounds. Every rival candidate for the bottom layer — matter, mind, math, relations, brute fact — either eats its own tail or refuses the question (the eliminations). What remains is self-grounding information: the thing whose existence and whose description are the same act.
Random bits mean nothing; information must be organized to carry meaning, and organization admits degrees. That degree is χ — the quantity the whole Master Equation computes. And a source cannot output more order than it has: you cannot create from a corrupted template, not even 0.001% off, because defects compound downstream.
The best explanation is the shortest program that produces the observed output. Mathematics is that compression — discovered, not invented, identical for every civilization that looks. A fingerprint left on every wall of a room the Owner stepped out of.
Meaning requires a witness, and a programmed witness is not a witness. A mirror cannot appreciate. So the witness must be able to refuse — which is the entire risk of the design, accepted before the first word was spoken.
Genuinely free choice requires genuinely open outcomes — superposition held until a choice collapses it. A world of mixed good and evil is mathematically indeterminate where a pure world was calculable. Quantum uncertainty is not a quirk of small things; it is the scar of the fracture.
Moral orientation is binary — toward the Source or away — and no system flips its own sign from inside. That is why the tree had to exist (free will made visible, a door in the room) and why every self-improvement program in history runs the same failed experiment: the broken machine repairing the broken machine with the broken machine.
A closed system decays — the Second Law is not negotiable — so restoration requires input from outside the system. Grace is that external, non-unitary operation: order injected, information added that was not derivable from inside. It has infinite range; the adversary's weapons work at 10⁻¹⁸ meters. He can win locally. He loses the series.
A pattern is not its substrate, and information, conserved, survives substrate destruction. Death destroys hardware. The resurrection is the demonstration case: same identity, upgraded substrate — not resuscitation, a phase transition forward.
Every human evaluates right and wrong — pre-cultural, pre-linguistic, frequently anti-survival — and some things are true whether believed or not. Ask anyone on earth to design God from scratch and the properties converge: truthful, just, loving, coherent. The axiom chain doesn't install that information. It validates what was already installed.
Dynamical systems settle into attractors, and a system with a binary sign has two. Integration or fragmentation. Communion or isolation. Both trajectories honored to the end, because overriding one would delete the witness the whole design exists for.
Perfect Justice demands the debt be paid; perfect Mercy demands the debtor be spared; only a payer who is also the Judge satisfies both at 100%. That is R(offense, α) at α = 0 with judge = payer — and it is a fact about the structure of debt before it is a doctrine. The story, the math, and the cold chain all terminate at the same coordinates.
